Inspiring Woman - Amber Harper

I remember the first time meeting Amber...she had just joined the AAU team that I was playing on. Dynamite 87 was our team name...and we walked around looking like little boys, but you didn't want to see us on the court!! LOL!! I remember Amber came to the team with DEFENSE!!!! We both ended up leaving the team, and then randomly ended up at McMurry University together our freshman year. I only stayed at McMurry for a year...but that didn't stop any of the fun that was had! I vividly remember going out one night with Amber and some others, and they all entrusted me to drive us to and from the club without my glasses on. I can PROMISE you that we had the Lord and ALL of our guardian angels in the car with us that night!!!!!! Over the years I have watched Amber be a complete BOSS in everything that she has done...and lately have been sooooo inspired by her courage and determination to start her own business, and completely KILL it!!!!! I am so than...

Inspiring Woman - Amber Ortiz

Every time I reached out to someone asking if they wanted to participate...I was always incredibly surprised if they came back and said yes. Amber was definitely no exception. We went to high school together, but didn't hang out together...nor really have much of a relationship, outside of maybe having a class together here and there...however we've always been friends via social media. I remember when she started her insurance career and posted about it on Facebook. I remember thinking how brave she was to start a new career from scratch, and how I could never do that!!! And yet when I finally took my leap to start my new career, Amber was one of the very first people to reach out to me with congratulations and resources and access to her if I needed any insurance services. I was so incredibly grateful, because to say that I was overwhelmed at the time, would be a complete understatement in every capacity. Amber is totally doing incredible things and is a complete BOSS!! I am beyond thankful that she agreed to participate in this feature!!!

It sure hasn’t been easy. I’ve had to rebuild my business 3x and it was really hard, but I think it’s made me appreciate my business partners that much more.

*What sacrifices have you had to endure to get to where you are today?
A lot of my free time at first. I struggle with trying to balance things and sometimes my personal life/mental health suffered from it. Finding my anchor through my faith has helped me.

I wanted to look back and say I did that. I believe I could, and I made it happen.

*What was it like where you grew up?
Small town vibes, I just wanted to get away! So I graduated early and got my degree as quick as I could and moved on.

My mom she’s my biggest believer. Also couldn’t have made it without my bestie/soulsister Andrea and Marlene they have walked through so many phases of life with me and never left my side.

*Have your dreams and goals changed through your life?
Yes, of course, as I entered in new season of life those goals have adjusted. For the longest time it was grinding it out and making as much money as possible. Now my perspective has shifted; creating a healthy happy home is my number one priority..

Knowing I did the best I could with what I had. Looking backing and not wondering what if.

My grandmother. she was the definition of a selfless person. She would literally give everyone everything she had and she did it with a smile. Caring for others was her love language.

*What is your greatest hope?
To see more kindness, this world is filled with so much hate.
