Inspiring Woman - Amber Harper

I remember the first time meeting Amber...she had just joined the AAU team that I was playing on. Dynamite 87 was our team name...and we walked around looking like little boys, but you didn't want to see us on the court!! LOL!! I remember Amber came to the team with DEFENSE!!!! We both ended up leaving the team, and then randomly ended up at McMurry University together our freshman year. I only stayed at McMurry for a year...but that didn't stop any of the fun that was had! I vividly remember going out one night with Amber and some others, and they all entrusted me to drive us to and from the club without my glasses on. I can PROMISE you that we had the Lord and ALL of our guardian angels in the car with us that night!!!!!! Over the years I have watched Amber be a complete BOSS in everything that she has done...and lately have been sooooo inspired by her courage and determination to start her own business, and completely KILL it!!!!! I am so than...

Inspiring Woman - Twyla Pierce

I remember the first night I met Twyla and how infectious her personality and laugh were!! We instantly became friends...and when we realized that our birthday's were just days apart, it was literally a wrap!!! Twyla brings this energy to every place that she is in that is a mix of motivation, love, laughter, inspiration, and a slight hint of "you can catch these hands at any time!!!" There has never been a moment where I have left spending time with Twyla and not felt better about myself. No matter how big or small the situation may be, if I reach out to her, she is there. I am so inspired by Twyla and who she is as a person in everyone's life that she is in. I am so beyond thankful for Twyla for agreeing to participate in this feature!!

I introduce you to the BEAUTIFUL Twyla Pierce

*Generally speaking, what was your childhood like?
- When I think of childhood, I always remember feeling super protected and being surrounded by laughs. I’m the youngest of 4 so I was always running behind my older siblings on bike rides or to the pool. I wanted to be “cool” just like them so I was always down to do whatever they were doing.

*What have you learned over your lifetime that you’d like to share with the younger generation?
- Take your time. I always remember being in a rush to get to the next life destination – to grow up, to get to college, then to graduate, then to be an adult and climb the career ladder. All of these things fell into place and happened the way that they were supposed to, but there were definitely moments that I was so focused on “next” that I didn’t enjoy or take full account of the “now”. Learn to be content in every circumstance and to be present in the moments you’re experiencing.

*What has the journey/process been like for you to get to where you are today?
- I think it’s been all things, fun, scary, exciting, nerve wrecking. I’ve been up and down. It’s important that while you’re “journeying” that you remain fluid and keep moving. Sometimes giving up is the easy thing to do. I try to always be open to change and hearing constructive criticism so I can be the absolute version of myself.

*What do you do for a living?
- I’ve been in the insurance industry for 10+ years starting in claims right after college and got my feet wet in underwriting as well. I’m currently an insurance commercial account manager. I work with carriers to build insurance programs for affordable housing real estate developers in The Bay.

*What motivates you the most?
- Wanting to see myself living and being the absolute best version of myself motivates me to keep hustling, learning and striving for greatness.

*You are a complete BOSS…as a woman, why do you feel like creating this path for yourself was/is necessary?
- Absolutely for my nieces and other young women that look up to me. I am the woman I am today because other women made sacrifices and paths for me to be able to succeed, I have to be an example so they strive to be better than me.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
- An attorney! I was a debater in high school and I love hitting people with the facts and receipts in arguments 😊

Have your dreams and goals changed through your life?
- Absolutely – my goal out the gate was to make as much money as possible and ball out. 😊 As I’ve grown, I’ve discovered that happiness doesn’t come from status, social circles, jobs or things. True joy comes from having peace, being settled and content in your spirit, having little to no drama. My goal now is to work hard to be content in every circumstance.

How do you define a “good life” or a “successful life?"
- Having joy, being able to travel at will, being surrounded by a solid group of people that love and pray for you, having your health and your family. I feel like I have a good life because I have joy from things that money can’t buy.

Thank you soooo much to Twyla for agreeing to be featured!! I am so thankful for our friendship, and truly inspired by her and her story!! I hope you all enjoyed!!

Lots of Love 💙

Rebekah
